Steelvault 5200 Hardware Components
The 5200 features 4, hot-swap hard drives which can be configured in a RAID 0 (performance) or RAID 5 (redundancy) array. This single 4 drive mount provides between 1TB and 4TB capacity. Redundant power supplies provide a high level of uptime; an audible alarm indicates interrupted power to one supply. It is recommended that each power supply connect to different circuits to prevent system crashes. Despite redundancy, it is recommended that a UPS system with surge protection is used to prevent damage to the system from power spikes, brown-outs, or complete power failure.
A front mount particulate filter is provided; frequent inspection, cleaning, and replacement of the filtration element is required to maintain adequate airflow inside the unit. The system will automatically shut down once the drive temperatures exceed the maximum recommended operating conditions. A clean filter will help alleviate the potential for shutdowns due to placement within dusty conditions.
